Ascent Trip Report

This morning I hiked Graham and Balsam Lake from Mill Brook Rd.

For both, the trails were pretty much mushy snow (marshmallows, mashed potatos, etc - take your pic). I wore microspikes for the entire hike. The trail for Graham was obvious and rather well-packed but nearing the summit I was post-holing (!!@^%$!*). On the way to Balsam Lake from the junction was similar, except I did even MORE post-holing (double-!!@^%$!*). Despite that, it was pretty mild out and sunny, mostly clear skies. Views from the BL firetower were much better than when I hiked in last Dec. (to complete the ADK Fire Tower Challenge).
