Ascent Trip ReportPB lists 2 Candidate High Point Areas, after the visit its evident that Area 2 is much lower and shouldn't be on the list.
From the Junction of Hwy #49/20, just north of I90, exit 2, we drove west on #20 for 1.1 miles to Columbia and a right on CR 1.50, 4.2 miles north to a left on CR S, .5 miles west to the Indiana/Ohio State Line Road where we turned right on CR 1 and parked at 100 yards. The obvious AREA 1 HP is 35 yards to the right in a grass filed, I chose my spot at GPS 41.69398,-84.80553. Nice views in all directions.
I agree with Michael Schwartz's conclusion in his TR of 2000, " ........ The area nearer the road is clearly higher. ....". I believe AREA 2 should be removed as a Candidate.
250 yards to the north on CR 1 is the Tri-County Point (IN/MI/OH) ..... in the middle of the road is a 6" square hole that used to have a steel plate Marker, to the right (east) at 5 yards is a broken Granite Monument and just north is a stone monument "130 feet south is the point where Indiana, Michigan and Ohio meet. This Marker was erected by Hillsdale Country Historical Society, 1977".
