Ascent Trip ReportOne other car in PA (snowplow turnaround really) when I arrived. 32 deg F at start. Hike up CR3 was ok, turn to Vly and the wind really picked up. Trails / roads to Vly and Bearpen were both covered with 2 to 3 inches of snow but not much ice - barebooted the hole way. Path to Vly takes you through 5 or 6 ledges. I was lucky enough to be able to follow other's footprints from prior days. Signed in at Vly canister but used the wrong date - 3/10 instead of 3/11 - don't tell the canister police. Back down to cabin for a snack and met two hikers coming off Bearpen. Hike up Bearpen was a little steep on the roads but the wind was gone, then onto a ridge walk a good way to the summit viewpont. Back down the way I came "dancing" to my tunes. Saw 7 hikers on the way down CR3 - two were of the canine type. PA was full with 6 cars when I finished. Beautiful day in all and it really warmed up.
