Ascent Trip Report

The road up from Carver's Gap was closed so I parked there and walked up the Appalachian Trail. I missed the spur trail to the shelter and went about a third of a mile too far before I tuned around and found it on the way back. The temperature at Carver's Gap was 40 F. according to my car thermometer, but gale force winds made it seem much colder, and ice on the trail made for treacherous footing. In ideal conditions an easy hike to a significant mountain--P2K and chp 2fer--but I worked a little harder for it today.
