Ascent Trip Report

A easy dirt road climb from a gate ...... 1.2 miles, 40 minutes RT.

I used Bob Schwab's excellent TR of 2005 which still applies today ...... except for a few minor changes which I note below and should be added to Bob's Report.

The unsigned road east of I65, exit 71, is now signed #2754.
The field that Bob found at .3 miles on Knob Road is no longer there, I found a gate at .21 miles (we parked here and walked .6 miles to the top).
The BM in the boulder on the way up is yellow painted and marked "P11, 928"
I found the high ground to the east of the Tower among 4 trees and a toppled concrete post with a "US Coast & Geodetic Survey Marker, FRENCHMAN, 1933, No 2." ..... my GPS at the BM 37.35491,-85.87325. The PB coordinates puts the spot in a lower elevation.

We drove to Louisville and overnighted at a Hotel near Churchill Downs for tomorrow's exciting visit to the home of the Historic Kentucky Derby .... our very first visit. We will visit the museum and take in a few of their tours.
