Ascent Trip Report

I first tried the Wildcat Ck Rd from the Lincoln Ck Rd. This connector is heavily signed "No Trespassing" and has a private gate.

I next tried the Bunker Ck Rd. It had a closed Weyerhauser gate that said it was closed from October 15 to April 15. The road behind the gate did not look like it was getting regular maintenance.

I then drove around to Dryad and the Chandler Rd. I tried the Absher Ck Rd. It is a public road and appears to be generally open. In spite of what the topo shows, this road continues up toward Buck's Knob and the Doty HP, but the snow got too deep for me when I was still too far away to walk. I turned back.

I had pretty much given up but I decided to drive up Elk Ck to try the west side of the Doty Hills. Success! I passed through two Weyerhauser gates but both had green dot signs for recreational access. Set odometer to zero at the intersection of Dokter and Elk Roads. 0.4 - stay left. 1.8 - go to the right. 2.0 - stay left. 4.6 - stay right. 6.2 - stay right. 7.1 - stay right. 9.2 - go left. 9.7 - This is where I got stopped by snow and started walking. 10.4 - stay straight. 12.0 - go right or park and walk the summit area spur.

There was about a foot of snow at the summit area.
