Ascent Trip Report

I took WVa. rt.3 (Harper Rd.) out of Beckley to rt. 99. It's a bit over 10 mi. from there to the parking spot. You'll know you're close when the road climbs through long deep rock cuts. You'l also see the tower on the peak from a long way off. You'll find ample parking by the entrance to the gated access road. A 2-fer chp with minimal effort other than the drive up from Beckley. And Boone County, a virtual drive up is only 2 mi. further up rt. 99. All three counties including the drive up from Beckley in well under 2 hours! Snowy today, but will have nice views in clear weather.
