Ascent Trip ReportFrom 160 South about 1 mi. south of the high point I took a right on Baughman Rd. a rough dirt track--no problem for my Jeep but I wouldn't recommend a passenger car if it's muddy. The road dead ends at a State Game area parking about 3/4 mi. south of the former tower site. My Garmin topo shows the road continuing much closer to the peak, but it has long since been abandoned beyond the State Game parking. I considered bush whacking straight uphill from hwy. 160 since the closest spot along the highway is less than a quarter mile from the highpoint, but it's all private land and looks like a steep bush whack through dense thorn bushes.
From the State Game parking I followed the remnants of the road on a GPS track to the hp (there's more than one track to choose from). The track soon turned into a path, and the path soon turned into only remnants of a path. Like the other two peaks I did today, the area is covered with thorn bushes. At the highpoint you'll find an old cabin and a microwave tower where the fire tower used to be. I did this peak because I'm trying to complete the Pa. highest 50 ( it's #17 for me). I see no reason for anyone else to do this peak unless you're also working on the top 50 list--no views, no redeeming features, lots of thorn bushes.
