Ascent Trip ReportA moderately steep track climb .... 2.2 miles,55 minutes RT.
We left the city of Mena eastbound on #8 for 21.2 miles to the Montgomery Co Line, where we continued 2.92 miles to a right turn on dirt road #FR43, signed "Caney Creek Wild Life Management Area, Ouachita National Forest", 100 yards before this road is the sign "Little Mo Falls, Albert Pike Rec Areas".
We followed the winding rough road #43 generally south for 2.2 miles to the crest-of-the-road at a saddle and a crossing with a lesser woods track. The track to the right is signed #43A, we parked here, this was my TH.
I walked/climbed the moderately steep 43A southwest .5 miles to the ridge, where I turned west and continued on the ridge another .6 miles to the summit ..... open area with super views to the south and partial to the north, 3 old tower foundations plus remnnats of building foundations, the HP is the obvious rock outcrop. I looked all over for the BM with no luck.
The destruction caused by recent forest fires was be seen for miles.
"IT'S NOT THE SIZE OF THE MOUNTAIN IN THE CLIMB, IT'S THE SIZE OF THE CLIMB IN THE MOUNTAIN."
