Ascent Trip Report

PB lists 3 Candidate High Point Areas for this Co, I visited all 3 of them and I concluded that Areas 1 and 2 are one of the same ..... there is little elevation difference between the two.

From the town of Daingerfield, intersection hwy TX11/259 (Broadnax Street), we drove west in 11 for 1.18 miles to a right (north) on CR1121, the red-dirt road climbs northeast then northwest, arriving at a T-Junction at .87 miles (staying left at all junction) ..... left (west) is driveable .19 miles to the summit of Areas 1 & 2, right is a rough 4x4 track (blocked off with a pile of dirt) that heads northeast to Area 3.

AREA 1 & 2 ..... a drive up with a walk of about 30 minutes.
The large/rough-looking summit is capped with numerous fenced-in Communication Towers, sheds, Fire Tower and roads with little natural ground. I walked to all corners of the summit and in my opinion the 2 areas are one summit .... there is no elevation change between the two and very difficult to pick "the" HP.
I also stomped the area looking for a BM ..... it needs someone with a better nose than mine. I asked a maintenance man working in a shed for the BM. "Never heard of it", was his reply.
My not-too-trustworthy eye-level told me that the HP of this summit is west of the Northwest Communication Tower at GPS 33.04054, -94.74810.

AREA 3 ..... a track walk of 1 mile, 35 minutes RT.
From the blocked 4x4 track (above) I walked 250 yards northeast, then 200 yards east to the start (point X) of a large flattened area (about 200 yards) where the track continues east. I walked a good 400+ yards past "point X" before coming back and choosing my spot at "point X", GPS 33.04187, 94.74059.
