Ascent Trip ReportAn easy flat walk in open scrub ..... 800 yards, 25 minutes RT.
After my "Stupid is stupid does" screw up on Batesville we found our way to the town of Eagle Pass, then North on hwy 277 to the intersection with 131 where we turned right on 131. We continued 15.6 miles to the crest of the road and pulled into the gated driveway on the left. Parked here, this was my TH (it is 1.03 miles north to the Kinney County Line).
I hopped over the gate and walked the track northwest as it follows the huge flat 975 foot contour, zig-zagged in sparse vegetation, nothing obvious. I randomly chose my spot at GPS 29.07252, -100.47688, near two power line poles with a transformer. Just past the entrance gate to the left is an old unused quarry with man-made bumps, near-by the first bump is a lone headstone "Bill John Lindeman, 1925/2004".
Tonight we will overnight in Del Rio then tomorrow move-on west to Big Bend National Park for the highlite of our trip.
"THE SAGE IN BLOOM IS LIKE PERFUME, DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS."
