Ascent Trip Report

An easy/rushed walk on private property ...... 4.4 miles, 1h30 hours RT.

My TH was the gated grass driveway on the west side of hwy 117, across the road is the signed "SJ Ranch", located 7 miles north of hwy 57 in Batesville or 12.5 miles south of Uvalde.
As I looked west at this gated driveway I had the corner of a Tall Game Farm Fence on my right and straight ahead a track (brushy grazing land) beside the Tall Fence at 240 degree Compass Line. The HP is on this line at about 2.1 miles.
I stepped over the low fence at the grass driveway, then continued (at a good pace) along the fence line at 240 degree, about 2 miles to a height-of-land (35 minutes).
I continued along the fence, descended 150 yards and made a sharp left turn along another Tall Fence (generally southeast). I ascended straight ahead to the high ground at 200 yards where I turned left (northeast) 50 yards on open ground to the BM on a beautiful round summit ... open with sparse shrubs, 360 degree super/flat panorama (2.2 miles, 40 minutes from the TH).
My GPS, directly on the "US Geological Survey Marker, Elev 965'" on top of an 18" tall steel pipe, read 29.03000, -99.71712. Near-by are two "US Coast & Geodetic Survey Triangulation Station" embedded in raised concrete bases, one stamped "Camp #1, 1972", the other "Camp 1972".
I returned/rushed the same way in 35 minutes. I didn't see any animals even though I was on grazing land.
This is an excellent/easy route, except for the fact that it is on private property. From here we moved-on to the Maverick Co HP.
