Ascent Trip ReportI did a solo hike up Rose Mountain and its two subpeaks, The Pinnacle and Lyndeborough Mountain, on 2/4/2012.
I arrived at the trailhead for Helen's Trail at about 9:25 and started hiking shortly after that.
The trail started off by going gently uphill. It was marked by yellow plastic strips. It shortly dipped down and then began climbing at a moderate grade. After a few minutes, the trail forked. There was a trail map highlighting the area. The right fork led to the snowmobile trail that went to Rose Mountain, so I took the left fork to the summit of The Pinnacle.
The left fork had a mostly moderate grade with some steeper parts. The woods got a little thicker. After about twenty minutes, I reached the summit of The Pinnacle.
The Pinnacle's summit had good views to the northeast. I could see the Uncanoonucs and Joe English Hill. I rested for a few minutes while checking out the summit area and then continued to Lyndeborough Mountain and Rose Mountain.
