Ascent of Sunshine Peak on 2006-07-15
|Others in Party:||Stephanie Balter |
|Date:||Saturday, July 15, 2006|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||14001 ft / 4267 m|
Ascent Trip Reportclouds started accumulating along the saddle traverse but we hit the summit quickly and enjoyed a good snack with lots of other people and one cute puppy.
The descent down the scree field from the saddle after the summit was sketchy, not only was it ball bearing scree with ankle busters and probably 30+ degrees, but there was a mean looking storm coming in. It was Stephs first big scree field and it was a gnarly one.
We got off the scree field and onto the flats in time to throw on our rain jackets in the oncoming hail storm. We kept descending and of course the sun came out by the time we were back at the car.
