Ascent Trip Report

An easy track hike with a short bushwack ..... .6 miles, 20 minutes RT.

From the Wilson Co HP we found our way to I35, exit 140 (TX 1604 Loop), where we traveled south on 1604 for 3.5 miles to Somerset where we turned right on FM 2790, Shell Station on the corner. We followed FM 2790 for 2 miles to a left turn on FM 476, 2 miles right on FM 3175, 2 miles right on McConnel Road to a long gated (locked) driveway on the right at 100 yards, house #70 can be seen on the side of the hill at .2 miles, HP is beyond in the woods at .3 miles from the road. This was my TH.
The gated driveway is paralleled by a gated grass track to its north, the property is signed "For Sale". Every thing in this area is gated so I had no choice but to risk the hike, I crawled through the gate and rushed the grass track east to the high ground where I turned left in the woods, stomped around and returned as quick as possible, nothing obvious.
I should note that we first tried an eastern approach on Kinney Road off of FM 476, Kinney dead-ends at a private gate, it didn't look too inviting. We also looked at the south side, all locked gates. The west side was the best approach.

Heavy rain was forecasted for the afternoon so we drove to drove to San Antonio and took a Hotel on the northwest side of the city.
