Ascent Trip ReportA short walk on grass field .... 200 yards, 10 minutes RT.
From Obar Hill in Lavaca Co we continued south on Hwy 95 for 6.7 miles to Moulton and a right turn on FM 532 (Moore Road), this corner is 9.2 miles south of I10, exit 661. We went west on 532 for .4 miles to a left on Lancaster as 532 continues for another 3.6 miles to a left on CR 290, 1.43 miles sharp right on 290A (290 turns left) which dead-ends at a farm entrance but a driveway continues to a barn inside a superb cattle farm (at 1.2 miles from 290), 150 yards before the HP The road enters the cattle farm at an open gate on top of the first hill, straight ahead is green pasture land with the HP visible on the next hill at about .4 miles, a beautiful site. We drove in the driveway, went to 2 trailer houses at the bottom, no one home even though there were a number of trucks in the area, we continued to the barn just before the HP, no one around. I walked to 2 possible obvious HP areas (fenced-in with open gates) and chosen my spot at a large tree, GPS 29.53932, -97.20600, a short 250+ yards walk. We left as quickly as possible feeling somewhat guilty. Beautifully located green cattle farm.
We moved on south to Gonzales County.
