Ascent Trip Report

Mount Gould is a short climb above Kearsarge Pass. The pass is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour hike up from the Onion Valley trailhead with a day pack. At the pass, head north up some use trails toward the summit. Near the top stay to the left when you reach darker rock and traverse northwest to the true summit. The summit can be climbed on the west side by scrambling up a series of chest-high small ledges to the register which is at the base of the highest summit block. Allow about 1 1/4 hours from Kearsarge Pass to the summit. From the Onion Valley trailhead the hike would be about 7 miles round-trip with an elevation gain of 3800 feet. 8/00 RLC
