Ascent Trip Report

Hwy 217 to Derry, Pa.; SR 1008 ( SR1008 not marked in Derry; it's Ligonier St. and it took too much wandering for me to find it to remember the exact turns--you'll need a map for this). The topo map shows a road running north towards Chestnut Ridge, what I had initially intended as my destination. However, this is gated and appears abandoned. About 0.1 mi. east a newer gated road heads into gas fields. I took that about an eighth of a mile until it intersects with the remains of the old forest road. It was sleeting and late in the day, so I settled for 2490. An easy walk to a wooded knob in good weather.
