Ascent of Fort Mountain on 2012-01-14| Other People: | Solo Ascent
| | Date: | Saturday, January 14, 2012 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Fort Mountain | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 1413 ft / 430 m |
Ascent Trip ReportI parked off of Old Mountain Rd. near the beginning of the Fort Mountain access road, which I hiked to the top.
There were a good few inches of snow on the road. It wasn't plowed, although there were tire tracks all the way to the summit. Microspikes were helpful.
The views from the summit were great, and they were much better than the last time I hiked Fort Mountain. They were so good that I could see Mount Washington's white, snow-capped peak way off in the distance in addition to peaks such as Kearsarge South, Monadnock, and the Uncanoonucs. I hung out at the summit for a few minutes and then went back down.
