Ascent Trip ReportAfter a visit to Lopez Hill, we headed for Shaw Island. Vehicles have to pay for inter-island but passengers do not. There were 7 vehicles leaving Lopez for various islands. The WSF deck crew gave minimal direction and several cars wound up lost on the Elwha. They were still moving us around the deck while the boat was underway. I stopped the Deck Officer before he walked away and found that he had no idea we were going Shaw. Good thing we weren't a tourist.
We parked just west of the airstrip on Neck Point Rd and made the short walk up through open forest to the summit. There is a bit of a view to the west. There was also a "no trespassing" sign in the middle of the summit so we did not stay long.
Total round trip from the ferry took only about 35 minutes and it could be done in 20 minutes.
