Ascent Trip Report

This is my first HP of 2012 and #10 overall. It wasn't the prettiest but it wasn't too bad...actually expected worse from reading the other reports. The drive from Pittsburgh was boring. Anyhow from I-70 you head north on 227 to the little town of Bethel, turn left on Bethel Road, right on Elliot Road, and just beyond the large farm on your left will be a line of trees with a 100ft dirt driveway. There was a green street marker off the side of the road indicating the HP. I walked from the main road to the little designated area (all of 100 ft) and found it to be quite nice compared to what I'd read from others. There was a bench, a picnic table, a clean fire pit, along with a mailbox which had a registry inside plus some neat little HP cards/tokens. I did not see any HP signs in the tree but there was a large rock in the middle of the grounds indicating you were at the top of Hoosier Hill.

It was a beautiful day to get out and about but I must admit I'm happy to have checked this HP off my list because it's not much of a destination. Oh well, now I can begin the southeast.
