Ascent Trip ReportIf this summit was individually named, it would be the 3rd highest named summit in Mississippi, but Tippah Hills appears to actually be a range with no individually named points. As far as I can determine, however, this summit is the highest point of the entire Tippan Hills range. My son, Marshall, and I parked along the road to the NE and did an easy bushwhack toward the summit. We quickly reached an ATV trail and followed it instead of continuing our direct approach. The trail did a wide sweeping horseshoe bend and followed the summit ridgeline, so even though it was a much longer distance than our original direct route, it was a much easier way to climb this summit. There were no views from the summit due to trees, but the ATV trail created a nice clear area for summit photos. We followed the ATV trail all the way back to the road we were parked on and that is when we discovered that it began with a heavily posted locked gate. We were glad we didn't see this gate before our climb!
