Ascent Trip Reportw Monica and the randomites (Ashley Carneal, Jesse, Michael Kosowicz, Tomoko, Philip, Emily Singer, and Mike Sharrow). Got a later start then planned because of a mix-up in the meeting spot - sorry for the confusion regarding the lot near the train depot vs the lot near the trailhead. The conditions once we started were mixed ... slush at the bottom turned to running water in the middle which turned to ice at the top. Snow showers on-and-off all day. Even with the wind at the top it was never really cold. No views to speak of so we ditched the optional plan of going to Webster since a 52 with a View peak without any view isn't much fun. While I had my mountaineeringcrampons in my bag I tried the Hillsound Crampons (not really crampons but more like Katoolha MicroSpikes with the rubber band but with slightly more aggressive teeth) and they worked perfectly for the entire trip. I think they will become my regular sub-mountaineering crampon traction device. On the way down it did start getting a little colder - much of the slush had started to freeze.
