Ascent Trip Report

Started hike at 8:58am at Valley Woods Road, reached summit at 10:18. Great views of Lake George, surrounding mountains and even Gore Mountain, so bring a camera. Ice and snow on the ground in certain spots. Brought the crampons but didn't use them. Hiking poles are highly recommended to avoid falling!

Finding the trailhead is easiest by coming off the Northway. Take exit 24 towards Bolton Landing, which is Route 11 east. Drive down about two miles and make a right onto Valley Woods Road. (If you see New Vermont Road on your right you've driven about 0.2 miles too far.) Once you get onto Valley Woods Road, the trailhead sign for Cat Mountain and Thomas Mountain is about 220 feet on your right.
