Ascent Trip Report

Note: Due to battery issues, the attached GPS track does not get around to the west side of the crater rim where Google shows the highest contour. However, I believe that the highest rock is in the vicinity of the end of the track on the north side of the rim and the Google contours are inaccurate.

We started at the main village plaza in Santa Maria de Jesus on this KE Adventures trip. We had three Guatemalan guides, eight clients, and two "tourist police" officers from Antigua to provide security. Basically, this is a long walk up a trail (with lots of litter) to a summit with many towers and buildings - as well as trees, which make it hard to determine with certainty where the highest point on the crater rim actually lies.
Summary Total Data
    Elevation Gain:1711 m / 5614 ft
    Extra Gain:10 m / 33 ft
    Trailhead:Plaza, Santa Maria de Jesus  2069 m / 6791 ft
