Ascent Trip Reportthis should have been an easy ascent of Pico peak, but i lost the trail when it crossed one of the groomed ski slopes and found tracks heading in every direction. i have no idea how far, or to what elevation (2500 is a wild guess), i had hiked when i gave up and turned around. there was about a foot of snow on the the trail which had been well-packed by XC skiers who had gone before me, and evergreen branches drooped under the weight of mini snow drifts. though my fingers were cold (again, need better gloves), this hike was quiet and peaceful until i was thwarted and left, defeated. i hate ski areas.
