Ascent Trip ReportAyer Road from the topo map, is signed "Joe Barker Road" where it intersects Lyon Ferry Road. After turning up the spur toward the summit, there are two ranch gates that we opened and closed. The last couple hundred feet to the top is rough and cars should be left behind.
We were treated to a view of a grain train coming out of the Palouse Canyon and crossing the Lyons Ferry trestle below us. The train whistle echoed off the many rock walls.
