Ascent Trip ReportDrive:
At the west end of Stevenson WA on Hwy 14 find Rock Creek Drive (large sign for Skamania Lodge) and zero your odometer. Road log -
0.0 Hwy 14 and Rock Creek Dr - drive Rock Creek Dr past the entrance to Skamania Lodge 0.3 Turn left onto Foster Creek Rd 0.7 Keep straight/left; road becomes Ryan Allen Rd 1.1 Turn left onto Red Bluff Rd 1.8 Turn left onto CG-2020 (CG-2000 is the right fork/continuation) --- The road will cross under the powerlines 4 times; ignore forks to the powerline cut and stay on the main road 6.2 Keep left on main road 6.4 At about 2200' road gets steeper with gravel. Sedan can probably drive at least to this point. Beyond here I had snow/ice/mud patches and needed 4WD and high clearance - I can't say what it would be like in dry conditions, but high clearance is probably required at some point. 7.8 Reach 5-way junction on ridge top; hard right onto road 2026 8.2 Reach junction of spur 044 on right. I parked here, though without snow you could drive the spur 0.1 mile to the ridge.
Hike:
Walk spur 044 to the ridge, turn left and pick up occasional use/animal/pink-flagged trail on ridge top. Follow your map and the ridge top to the summit area. (The trail is unnecessary, but it's there in places if you want it.)
