Ascent Trip ReportI approached Peak 3940 from the small town of Lake Creek. Take Soth Fork Little Butte Creek Road going east from town for about 8.8 miles to BLM road 38-3E-17 and turn right. Go 0.9 mile to BLM 37-3E-18.1 and turn right. Stay on the main road for 2.7 miles then take the left fork onto a lesser road where high clearance is required. Follow this lesser road up 1.1 miles to a saddle where it meets another road that looks better than the one you drove up. Don't take the good road, turn left on a lesser road and follow it about another 0.4 miles and park at about 3,640 ft.
I hiked up an old logging road cut a little and then just straight up the brushy hill to the summit. The route is brushy, but it has been thinned with all the cuttings just left on the ground. No views from the summit, but there are some views from the road driving in.
