Ascent Trip ReportTrip out to Street and Nye was not a difficult hike but was a pain in the caboose! There was a LOT of blowdown across the trail that made the going slow at times. For the most part, the unmaintained trail that started at the trailhead for Mt. Jo was easy to follow. The only difficulty was when we came to the Indian Pass Brook. At first we were unsure of where to cross and pick up the trail on the other side. We finally spotted a small cairn on the far bank that marked the continuation of the trail. Soon after that, we passed a beaver dam and pond before starting up the mountain. We reached the junction between Street and Nye without meeting any other groups. As we were resting for a minute, another group came down the trail from Nye and we chatted for a few minutes before heading for Nye ourselves. It was a quick jaunt up to the summit of Nye where we spent only a couple minutes before heading back down to the junction and started off towards Street. My wife had already done Street, but had come up from another direction on a day that was pouring rain! When we reached the summit of Street there were several groups already there. The trip back down was uneventful, reaching the Loj by late afternoon.
