Ascent Trip Report

I have my more detailed post up on COHP, but this is more of a response to other trip reports posted. Yea it's a drive up, but you're driving up into an area that is often used for tank training exercises (not live fire from what I was told, but they do often do exercises there as is obvious with all of the tank tracks that are up there). It is part of the base, not on its boundary. It's only on the boundary of the high level restricted zone (which I was also told would not be accessible to any civilian if the highpoint happened to have been on the other side of the fence which is fortunate for us). The base still wants you to call into the zone clearance hotline to make sure who is or isn't on the tank fields. As the others who posted below have said, you can drive up, but you could also potentially be in for a really bad day if you don't go through the proper channels and they're running exercises. They don't take more than an hour or so to go into the base to fill out the paperwork.
