Ascent Trip Report(this is the account of our Mt.Colvin-Blake Pk. day hike from the col between Colvin and Blake; for the first part, see the Colvin ascent)
Following our brief conversation with the other group -they had decided to take a break, but 30 feet away from us- we decided it was useless to bring our day packs with our equally useless snowshoes strapped to them up to the top. Furthermore, we were the only people on the trail now, so we hid our packs and started going up.
The trail was, again, very steep at some points. It wasn't long though before we reached the summit. The lack of summit sign and any significantly interesting views was a bit disappointing, but we nonetheless took our pictures in front of the small clearings towards Gothics and I savored my second victory beef-jerky. After having hiked half of our trip, we were pretty sure we would pass the two guys ahead of us at some point, as when we crossed them, we were only and hour behind. For most of the ascent, I let J-P lead and set the pace. On the descent, I took the lead, rockhopping and glissading down at my usual fast pace. Back at the col, we drank and ate quickly, put our packs back on, and got ready for a depressingly steep ascent back to Colvin's summit.
