Ascent Trip Report

A steep/rough trail climb with some scrambling ...... 3 miles, 4 hours RT

Bear Head is listed on "VT 3500-FOOT PEAKS" as "Unranked" and the only one on the List that I haven't climbed, I completed the "Ranked" Peak List on Mount Snow on 2009-10-02. I came here today to climb this Peak thereby completing the "Unranked" Peaks on the list and be the first to do so.
**** NB: I found out on May/2014 that this is an evolving List .... Bear Head is no longer on the list, and added to the List is Lookout Rock (north of Equinox Mountain)???? Grrrrr ..... I now need Lookout Rock in order to fully complete the List.

A Trail climbs from smugglers notch westbound to Lake of the Clouds then north to Bear Head (I couldn't find its name, presumably its Bear Head Trail).
The TH with a the kiosk on the west side of hwy 108, .56 miles south of the height-of-land in Smugglers Notch, the kiosk frame appears to be new and is void of any signs. Parking is on the opposite side of the road .... a very interesting Water Fall emerges out of the mountain (maybe spring water ???)
This is a steep/rough climb requiring some slippery scrambling, on this day the Trail was very wet. I huffed and puffed all the way, I took advantage of the numerous granny stops by enjoying the view, fairly open views as most of the foliage was down. Checked out the Lake before going over to the summit.
I estimate the climb to the Lake at over a mile, then north to the summit at .3 miles. Took a good long break before descending the same route.
