Ascent Trip ReportWilliams Hill and Calandra L.O. are easily reached from the San Ardo-Lockwood Rd. At San Ardo go west 1.6 miles from U.S. 101 on Paris Valley Rd to join San Ardo-Lockwood Rd; 6.3 miles on San Ardo-Lockwood Rd; left 5 miles on well-graded dirt road through BLM's Williams Hill Management Area to broad, open summit area of Williams Hill and Calandra L.O. The area is fenced but easily accessed through a hole in the fence. Lookout named for Joseph Calandra who was killed fighting the 1939 Bixby Mountain fire on the middle fork of the Little Sur River. Good views of Cone, Juniperro Serra and Pinyon Peaks to the west; Lakes San Antonio and Nacimento to the south; and the Diablo Range to the east. I returned to U. S. 101 via Lockwood and the Lockwood-San Lucas Rd.
