Ascent Trip Report

Arrived at the parking at the end of Mink Hollow Road late Friday afternoon. Hiked the mile in to the lean-to at the Devil's Path trail junction in the col between Plateau Mountain and Sugarloaf Mountain. Spent the first night at the lean-to. Started early the next morning heading West on the Devil's Path up to the summit of Plateau. the going was slow as my dad was having trouble breathing (he was still a smoker then) and had to stop frequently to catch his breath. We finally made it to the summit and then continued along the ridge with the intention of going down to Stony Clove Notch and up to the summit of Hunter. By the time we got to Orchard Point at the western end of the Plateau summit ridge it was well into the afternoon and we realized that we would never be able to make it to hunter and back all the way to the car by the next afternoon! So we canned Hunter and headed back the way we can and spent that night back at the same lean-to we stayed at the first night. Sunday morning we slept in a bit and then hiked the mile or so back to the car along the forest road.
