Ascent Trip ReportBald Mtn is in a logging area that is normally closed to public access most of the year. During hunting season the gates are open on weekends for hunters (and peakbaggers too). I accessed Bald Mtn from the small town of Pedee on Hwy 223. Go west on Hwy 223 about 0.8 mile and turn left (north) on signed Pedee Creek Road and zero your odometer. At mile 1.8 turn left on BLM 9-6-20, at 2.5 miles go through the open gate, at 6.3 miles turn left on road 1440, go through another open gate, at 6.6 miles take the right fork, and at 8.5 miles stop at a locked gate on your right.
Hike up the road to some radio towers and enjoy the good view of the logged hills. I think there was a fire lookout on the summit at one time, but it is gone.
