Ascent of Wittenberg Mountain on 2011-10-16| Date: | Sunday, October 16, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Wittenberg Mountain | | Location: | USA-New York | | Elevation: | 3780 ft / 1152 m |
Ascent Trip Reportclimbed via woodland valley campground parking. observed some of the damage done by hurricane Irene. the water was very high in places, on the way to the campground some areas of the road had seen high water and many trees were washed into snags along the stream edges in places reaching up to peoples homes. the trail began by crossing the stream via a foot bridge..intact. then steeply up hill till it leveled off for a long walk to the start of the steep climbing. the climb was fun and more scenic atowards the top. wittenberg summit was one of the best. great views. the climb over to cornell was easy with only one class move. the views to the north were great from the north of the summit. i returned the way i came back over cornell and wittenberg.
