Ascent of Mount Bierstadt on 2011-10-12| Date: | Wednesday, October 12, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Unsuccessful - Turned Back | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Mount Bierstadt | | Location: | USA-Colorado | | Elevation: | 12640 ft / 3852 m |
Ascent Trip ReportHeaded up, despite winds gusting over 50MPH in Georgetown. As I climbed higher, the wind grew more and more fierce, and I did not want to risk being blown off the summit ridge by hurricane force gusts. I turned back with 1500' or so left to go, living to climb another day.
