Ascent Trip Report

I accessed Coleman Rim by one driving route and left be another. My route in was a long very rocky 4WD route and my exit was much easier. I will describe the easiest way to access the peak. From Hwy 140 at the very top of Blizzard Gap turn south on a good gravel road. This is between mile markers 43 and 44. Zero your odometer, go 0.4 miles cross a cattle guard and take the right fork. At 1.7 miles pass 2-3 campsites on your right, at 3.0 cross a cattle guard and go straight, at 4.0 miles pass a pond on your right, at 4.4 miles take the left fork, at 5.4 miles take the left fork, at 6.7 miles turn right, at 7.1 miles take the right fork, and at 8.5 miles turn left onto a lesser road. You could hike from this location if you don't want to drive this rocky road. Drive an additional 1.0 miles south until you are just east of the high point. I hiked through the sagebrush up to the high point. The BLM has cut down all the juniper trees on and around the summit. I guess they are considered an invasive species? Great views from the summit. I saw lots (150 or so) of antelope on the drive in to this summmit. Coleman Rim was my 236th P1k in Oregon. I am now halfway done with this long list.
