Ascent Trip ReportAfter leaving the Carrizo Plain, we headed out to Los Padres National Forest and drove up to the Mt. Pinos campground to rest before the ascent.
In the morning we began from a parking area at the end of Los Padres National Forest Road S349S . The hike to the summit of Mt. Pinos is a moderately steep 2 miles and shouldn't take more than an hour to reach (not counting breaks). The summit will be next to the antennae and is hard to miss.
Sawmill Mountain (the highpoint of Kern County) is another ~3 miles.
