Ascent Trip Report

What an amazing hike! Being completely surrounded by the spectacular vistas of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the Owens Valley and the views into Nevada was like being in heaven!

I expected the hike to be an easy one, but it was anything but. This was mainly due to the altitude and the elevation that you gain and loose again and again over the 15 mile round-trip. Richard, the other person in my party, suffered hypoxic symptoms and had to turn back after treking 5 miles. Sorry buddy. Durring the way up I saw five bighorn sheep which, from what I understand, are quite rare with something like 200 individuals or less in California all together. After I signed the summit log, I begain my trip back to the locked gate area. I do have to admit that I felt that the trip back was much harder than the trip up. I was zapped!
