Ascent Trip ReportAfter getting a late start and scrapping a trip to the Kinsmans, Maurits, Ryan and I decided to make a shorter hike up Moosilauke. The first 1.5 miles of the trail are tough going, as it climbs up the cascades, a very steep section that follows a waterfall up the mountain. After that it levels out and is very easy going for the last 2 miles to the summit. On the way up after the cascades we stopped at the Beaver Brook Shelter to drink some water and have a quick snack. A quick snack turned into us sitting in the shelter for about an hour before proceding up the mountain. By the time we reached the summit the rain had stopped and we sat on the summit for about half an hour. On the way back down the sun came out about halfway down the trail. We went back to the campground at Russell Pond and stayed the night there.
