Ascent Trip Report

Well it was another poor weather day for our hike! We started at 8:00am at the North Twin Trailhead to light rain that increased as we got going. The river crossings were not too bad as we used poles to help us out. I got soaked on the way up to North Twin but luckily I brought an extra shirt so I changed near the top. This made all the difference in the world. At this point the rain had mostly let up so now that I felt human again we continued on to the summit of South Twin where we briefly stopped to enjoy the non-views and have a bite to eat. From here we started the treacherous decent on the Twinway to the Galehead hut. Although it was a short distance of 0.8 miles it was an intense 0.8 miles. At the hut we went on to Galehead at which point it started raining again. We took the Gale River Trail on the way down and had fun sliding in the mud on the new section of trail. It is amazing that neither of us fell! We got back to the car at 3:00pm and were pretty sore, tired and soaking wet!
