Ascent Trip Report

My wife, Geri, and I were driving our 2001 Ford Focus as we began the ascent up the Fisher Peak summit road. The road got worse and worse, but we continued. Eventually, exposed sections of bedrock were visible in the middle of the road, but we continued. Soon we scrapped the bottom of the car as we passed over some higher exposed bedrock bumps, but we continued. Finally, about 600 yards from the summit, the road deteriorated to the point that I was not willing to take anymore chances. I figured I had already used up our car's 9 lives! We continued the rest of the way on foot. There was not much a view from the summit, but the highest point was not hard to find and fortunately it was outside the fences protecting the summit towers.
