Drove north from Capreol after hotel stay in Sudbury, forded the Sturgeon River (only 0.5 m deep), and then took the 4x4 trail to the Woods Lake dock. Canoed through Woods Lake and Scarecrow Lake (no portage, only pull through narrow creek between lakes) to the old ranger cabin campsite. Hiked up the 3.5 km trail to the summit on September 17, climbed the old fire tower to the lookout, and then hiked back down. 2nd night at the campsite, then reversed the trip back.
