Ascent Trip ReportDid the first two legs of this hike/race (9 mi/4k gain), while my partner, Jonathan O'Donnell, did the second two legs. Perfect day. The clouds that enveloped the summit cleared as I was up there. I shared the summit with Peter Anderson of VA and Mike Collins of WA. Got to meet a lot of awesome fellow peakbaggers, fellow Sierra Clubbers, and local Hawthorne folks. Thank you so much to the local SAR/firefighter folks who ferried all of us off the mountain and overcame the bureaucracy of the non-military folks who run Hawthorne Army Depot to make this happen for all of us. Glad that I could contribute to the local park honoring my fellow veterans.
I hiked from the beginning (4,200 ft) to 8,200 ft (checkpoint 2). Jon started at checkpoint 2 and went to the summit from there.
