Ascent Trip ReportMy main apprehension was the throngs of people sure to be on Lassen on the final of three open weekends for the summer of 2011. It turned out to be one of the best parts.
Around 9200' or so I ran into Fred Lobdell descending the peak, who I unfortunately didn't recognize (I hadn't seen him in a hat before and also wasn't really on the lookout for folks I had met), but luckily he recognized me from the Tahoe county highpointer mini-convention last September. We had a nice chat on the side of the trail for maybe 15-20 minutes before I continued up.
At the summit I met folks who are friends of people I will meet next weekend at the organized climb of Mt. Grant in Nevada. When I mentioned county highpointing they mentioned Craig Willis, and also know Adam Walker, Eric Noel, Greg Slayden, and surely a bunch of other folks who run in these circles.
Beautiful peak, nice folks, small world, great climb.
