Ascent Trip Report

From the center of Washington, head W on NJ-57. After ~1 mile, turn R (N) on CR-623 just before a Rite Aid. Go 1.4 miles, then turn L on Brass Castle/Harmony Rd. After 3.3 more miles is a grass road headed into an open field on the R, just beyond an immature forest. A few farm buildings on the R, at mile post 5, signals that you're getting close. I parked here. There is an obscure No Trespassing sign here, probably obscure enough not to have legal effect. It would also be possible to park and enter the field where the road tops out a few hundred yards farther on, but a more conspicuous NT sign at that point makes that option somewhat less comfortable.

I hiked up the grass road, which soon disintegrates in the field. The field was natural grass for about half the distance across it. The next quarter was chest-high corn, which I swam through before reaching natural grass again for the last quarter of the distance. The highest ground is ~200 feet into the woods on the far side of the field.

For the return leg, I followed the windbreak on the E side of the field, which avoided having to traverse the corn.
