Ascent Trip Report

Turned out to be a great day for a climb. Started at 5 a.m. with headlamps. Sun rose shortly after we broke the tree line. Not a long hike for the elevation gain so it was a good tough challenge, especially for a flatlander still trying to get used to the altitude. Didn't have any problems that the occasional rest near the top didn't solve. Met a couple that had started at 1 a.m. and watched the sunrise on top. They had done the same thing on La Plata the day before. Sunny and still at the summit. My son's first 14er! Spend a half hour at the top. Because it was a weekday at the end of the summer we did not experience the big crowds we had read about. Maybe 30 or 40 on the trail that day. Returned to trailhead at 11:30 a.m.
