Ascent Trip ReportFrom Hwy 225, one mile south of what is left of Mountain City, turn east on California Creek Rd and zero your odometer. Go 3.7 miles and turn left at a road marked with signs with numbers 934 and another 33. At mile 5.9 there is a big dip in the road, cross a creek and a cattle guard. At 9.8 miles take a left turn through an open gate, and at 10.4 miles go through a closed barb wire gate. At mile 12.0 we stopped at elevation 8,650 ft, just short of a hill with a comm building and tower on its top. This is not the high poinnt.
We hiked north lesss than a half mile along a rounded ridge with a big snow bank to the high point. Great views.
